Youth Art

The Multnomah Arts Center Youth Art program offers a process-oriented art experience for children of all ages. While providing instruction in the use of art materials and techniques, our teachers guide students through the creative process in an effort to elicit and encourage each child’s individual style of visual expression. We encourage children in our classes to trust their own artistic impulses. The youth art experience at MAC begins at 18 months with family classes designed for the parent or guardian to interact with the child. The journey continues through the teen years, fostering independence, self-confidence, and continued creativity with opportunities in a wide variety of art mediums.

Music Classes Here at MAC…

Beginning with Music & Movement for Children classes, young children experience the magic of music through activities such as songs, finger plays, movement, and the introduction of instruments.

At age 8 children can join the Multnomah Youth Chorus to develop singing techniques, note reading skills, and accuracy of pitch and rhythm.

MAC also offers the Multnomah Community Chorus and Women’s Chorus for adults to develop range and musicianship singing music from Renaissance to contemporary, in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Discover the magic of music in Music Theory. Learn about harmony, intervals, tonality, chord functions, and progressions.

Explore guitar playing in a wide variety of adult group classes. We offer Group Guitar (beginning and intermediate), Beginning Folk Song, and Rock & Roll Guitar. We also have Group Ukulele!
